Why Green is the Trendy Wedding Color
A couple of months ago, I celebrated my 8-year run anniversary’. I still find it hard to believe that someone like me, who used to dislike running, not only began but has stuck with it. It feels like a miracle. As I reflected nostalgically on how I started and how much has evolved since then, I realized how much I’ve learned about running, from my approach and mindset to my equipment, gear, and shoes.
In the early days of my running journey, I didn’t pay much attention to the kind of shoes I wore. I did invest in a pair of running shoes, but I didn’t put much effort into researching them. My criteria were simple: affordable and cheerful, ideally costing around fifty quid, and they had to be stylish. Looking back, I realize how naive I was. The same went for my running gear. I was the one who brought a handbag to a run because I didn’t know where to store my stuff. Yes, that was me!
I wasn’t familiar with major running brands, didn’t know about Strava, splits, or personal bests (PB), and I certainly had no idea there were different shoes for road and trail running. Novice doesn’t even begin to describe it.
Fast forward to today… I go through trail shoes as quickly as my kids go through the weekly groceries. Footwear is important to me now. I understand the significance of wearing the right shoes for various terrains or distances. Comfortable clothing can change how you feel during a run and help avoid the dreaded chafing. These details matter. While I don’t want to break the bank for running gear, I’ve come to appreciate that quality often correlates with price.
As an adidas blogger, I have the fantastic opportunity to test their gear occasionally. This month’s campaign featured the Adizero range, and it immediately caught my eye. So, let’s dive into it:
What Is Adizero?
Before diving into the products I selected, let me explain the essence of Adizero. Adizero focuses on creating lightweight products to minimize weight and enhance athletic performance. The logic is simple: the lighter the load, the faster you can run.
It all began in 2004, when Japanese craftsman Toshiaki Omori joined the project. Omori prioritized foot anatomy, understanding that ideal shoes must support the foot yet feel like an extension of the body. The shoes needed to account for material, weight, cushioning, and different running conditions like distance, terrain, and speed, all while maintaining a visually appealing design.
Adizero was in development for four years before the prototype of the Adizero Adios was tested by Ethiopian runner Haile Gebrselassie on the eve of the 2008 Berlin Marathon. He loved them so much that he chose to wear them in the race, breaking the world record by 29 seconds.
Now, I’m not suggesting you’ll break world records, but depending on your running style, there is an Adizero shoe for you. Whether it’s the Takumi Sen 9 for short, fast runs, the Boston 12 for mid-to-long distances, or the Adizero Adios 8 for a versatile performance shoe, adizero has your back.

Adizero Adios 7 Shoes
I opted for the Adizero Adios 7 shoes because they’re promoted as an ‘all-rounder,’ and I consider myself an ‘all-rounder’ kind of person. I chose a pretty color combination (Pulse Mint/Silver Metallic/Core Black) because, why not? They’re available in three other color options (Cloud White/Core Black/Grey Three, Core Black/Beam Yellow/Solar Green, and White Tint/Court Green/Blue Dawn).
These are not hardcore trail shoes, to be clear. The lightweight mesh would allow mud and debris inside; you can see your socks through it. However, on dry days and sandy trails, they were perfect. They’re more suited for road or track but can handle occasional off-road adventures, thus being sold as good all-rounders.
Besides looking great, these women’s running shoes have numerous features that make running a bit easier, which most of us appreciate!
Features include:
- Breathable mesh – Ensures maximum ventilation while offering support.
- LIGHTSTRIKE PRO midsole – Soft cushioning designed for dynamic performance.
- TORSIONRODS – Provides flexibility, allowing support and freedom for foot movement.
- Adjustable lace closure – Permits laces to be tightened for preferred fit.
- Lightweight – Each shoe weighs just 189.7g (UK size 5.5), promoting faster runs.
- Recycled materials – Partly made from recycled materials to aid in addressing plastic waste issues.
I love these shoes because they feel custom-made. They fit perfectly and are ready for action right out of the box. While I’m not sure if they make me run faster, I don’t prioritize speed. They are comfortable, lightweight, and make me feel light and energetic, deserving a spot on my running shoe shelf (yes, I have that many pairs!).

Adizero 7/8 Leggings
I am particular about running leggings. I prefer them high-waisted, stretchy, comfy (obviously), dark-colored (I feel it creates a slimmer appearance), and they must have pockets. The Adizero 7/8 leggings tick all these boxes. Hooray!
First, let’s discuss the feel and fit. These leggings are so comfortable; it’s like wearing nothing at all. Made of recycled materials (at least 70% recycled content), they snugly wrap around every contour. I don’t want to deal with leggings riding up or falling down during a run. Thanks to perforated fabric behind the knees, you can forget about those issues.
In addition to comfort, these leggings are practical, featuring laser perforation in key sweat areas for optimal airflow, keeping you fresh and focused. The high-rise waist is a favorite, providing a secure feel when running. Plus, pockets! Zipped side and waist pockets ensure safe storage for car keys, phones, and other essentials.
The color is Aurora Black, a deep indigo with a neon green Adizero logo down the leg. It’s flattering and a refreshing alternative to basic black. I ordered a size medium (a large size 12), and it fits perfectly.

Adizero Running Tank Top
Feeling coordinated, I chose the Adizero running tank top in Aurora Black to match the leggings, though it’s also available in Black and Semi Spark (a custard-yellow hue). The fabric is incredibly cool and lightweight, akin to holding air. With perforated air holes throughout, it’s perfect for summer runs with no risk of overheating.
The racerback vest includes inner tape over abrasion points to minimize chafing, which is crucial, especially in hot, sweaty conditions. Adidas’s AEROREADY technology wicks away moisture, reducing chafe risk.
The vest includes reflective details for visibility and offers a loose, comfortable fit. I prefer vests that extend low on my backside—great for coverage and not worrying about undergarment choices. It fits nicely mid-hip, offering a flattering look.
What stands out is how light and airy it is compared to other running vests. Fortunately, the fabric dries quickly, which is good since I plan to wear this top a lot this summer!

Final thoughts
I’m an avid trail runner. I love the mud, varied terrain, scenic views, solitude, and sheer joy that road running can’t match. Yet, trail running isn’t always possible. Sometimes, a quick clean run is necessary without spending 20 minutes cleaning mud off myself and my dog. While I’m uncertain if a pair of trainers and lightweight running apparel will make me faster, I’ll give it a shot!
I know that eight years ago, I started with just an interest in stylish running gear. I still care about style, but performance is now equally important. And the Adizero kit I’ve tried? It pleases both the old and new versions of me.
