4 Tips for an Affordable Clean Keto Meal Plan

As you may have guessed by now, my passion lies in escaping to nature and exploring the great outdoors. If you’ve come across any of my other blog entries, you’ll know how much I admire the adidas Terrex line of women’s hiking boots and shoes. I’ve yet to find a pair of walking shoes that fit perfectly from the start and have never caused me blisters. They’re truly like a dream come true.
My enthusiasm for these shoes inspired me to get my husband a good pair of walking shoes as well. Let me explain further…
Why My Husband Needs New Walking Shoes
My husband has been wearing the same old, inexpensive, and poor-quality walking shoes for as long as I can recall. He has to keep them in our boot room because, among other reasons, they smell bad. They lack support, the insoles have shifted, and he doesn’t bother to lace them properly, choosing instead to wear them like slippers. While they might be as comfortable as slippers, they are neither good for his feet nor for the scent in our home!
If it were up to him, he’d probably wear them until they were full of holes and falling apart. However, an event during one of our dog walks gave him reason to reconsider his shoe choices.
I noticed him frequently stopping to adjust his shoes. I must admit, it was quite irritating as I wanted to keep a brisk pace. When I asked about it, he said he kept finding stones in his shoes. Proudly, I mentioned how I didn’t have that issue because I wore quality walking shoes that fit snugly. That was his moment of realization. It was a simple issue that made him so uncomfortable, he decided it was time for new walking shoes. Naturally, I recommended he try the adidas Terrex range.
Luckily for him, as an adidas blogger, I have access to a variety of options. Having experienced the Terrex range myself (owning two pairs because I love them), I knew this line was perfect for him. I provided him with several options, and here’s the one he chose…
Adidas Terrex Free Hiker 2 Hiking Shoe
What appealed most to my husband about the selection of men’s walking shoes I showed him was the adidas Terrex Free Hiker 2, which features an integrated sock-like cuff. This design gives the appearance of a high-rise boot, but the stretchy cuff forms a snug fit around the ankle, preventing rubbing and allowing supportive movement. This snug fit also acts as a gaiter, keeping small stones and grit out of the shoe. Perfect!
The Terrex shoes have Continental™ rubber grip, the same company that makes car tires, so they’re incredibly grippy. If they can keep a car on the road in all conditions, they can certainly provide excellent traction for hiking. This is crucial as my husband frequently takes the dog for walks in the forest, encountering muddy hills and hidden tree roots. Good grip is essential.
So, what adds to the comfort of the shoe? Aside from the sock-like cuff, the shoe features BOOST midsole cushioning, adidas’s signature technology. This involves compressed pellets shaped specifically for the shoe, offering a 20% energy return with each step and making the shoe feel like walking on soft, bouncy cushions. For my husband, this means he gets slippers-like comfort with proper foot support.
He opted for classic black (which coordinates well and requires less cleaning), although adidas refers to this as Core Black/Core Black/Grey Six. Two other color options for the adidas Terrex Free Hiker 2 are Pulse Olive/Linen Green/Impact Orange and Bliss Lilac/Beam Orange/Pulse Magenta.
So What Does My Husband Actually Think of His New Shoes?
Naturally, he loves them! If only he’d listened to me earlier, right? Like me, he was amazed by how comfortable they felt right away. With past purchases of walking and trail running shoes, we always dealt with a break-in period. But this isn’t necessary with adidas Terrex shoes; they’re comfortable immediately.
But enough from me, here are his thoughts…
“For ages, I’ve dealt with debris getting into my shoes while walking in the woods, constantly needing to stop and remove them. So, the idea of shoes with a snug sock-like top was enticing! I picked a black pair and sized up a half, advised by adidas’s website. They were initially tricky to put on, as expected with new shoes of this style, but the fit was great and immediately comfortable. On a 5-mile walk through wooded paths, not a bit of twig or grit reached my feet, and the comfort for a new pair of shoes was unlike anything I’m used to. I’m really pleased with them and they’ll be my go-to footwear for future walks.”
The takeaway here is to always ensure you have comfortable walking shoes that not only fit well but also support your feet effectively. And most importantly, always consider your wife’s advice!
